In just under ten years, Alexandre Monteiro, known as HOPARE, has become a leading figure in urban art — all before the age of 35.

In his workshops between Paris and Lisbon, the artist Alexandre Monteiro aka HOPARE embraces plurality. Polymorphic and Graphic, his works are sculptures with a thousand faces, as well as abstract paintings, or ceramic pieces or compositions between painting and embroidery. A way for him to establish a dialogue between gestures and memory. Alexandre has a sincere appreciation for manual work and craftsmanship. Alexandre’s paintings reflect childhood travel memories and anchor them in the present in the form of tangible objects like vases and ceramics. “It helps me think that time is less linear and allows me to highlight what I have experienced and what I think about the world today”
