It was in 2012 that the duo MonkeyBird formed, where Louis Boidron and Edouard Egéa began to work with four hands. The artistic duo MonkeyBird opens the doors to an artistic machinery as precise as it is spiritual. The bird personifies the human soul imbued with notions of freedom, escape and mind games, while the monkey refers to the primitive human condition. MonkeyBird’s artists mixe myths and legends with highly elaborate graphics to their artistic aesthetic.

Depending on the space accommodating their work, MonkeyBird multiplies and adapts its techniques: stencil, engraving, linocut, subtraction or addition of material, drawing, cutting, printing on glass; no limits seem to oppose their creativity. Off the streets, MonkeyBird has focused on working with wood, partly for its artisanal aspect, but also because this raw material, in a way, brought them back to their initial work on city walls. Additionally, as a “living” material, wood and its potential evolutions over time interest MonkeyBird in highlighting the past and traces of human touch.
