About the artwork :

Crossover

Work carried out as part of the “Coron[Art]Virus” project, in support of the medical staff of the CHU de Lille, thus illustrating the artist’s social commitment through his work. The artist encourages visitors to “dare” this journey, to explore blends and differences. Bold in the word “CROSSOVER,” the letters form the verb “DARE,” thus inviting to push boundaries and embrace diversity.

Jef Aérosol’s “CROSSOVER” exhibition at the Martine Ehmer gallery in Brussels is a profound reflection on the events that have shaken the world since the emergence of Covid-19. Initially scheduled for March, the exhibition was canceled due to the pandemic and subsequent lockdown. The works presented take on a new meaning in light of the global crisis, almost prophetically evoking the themes of confinement and uncertainty that have marked this period.

Jef Aérosol hopes that his works will resonate with the public, now considering them as a “crossover” between two eras. The title of the exhibition, “CROSSOVER,” reflects the diversity of meanings that this term can take on, from crossing to transition, through blending and hybridization. It also symbolizes the passage between two spaces, as the exhibition unfolds in two distinct galleries on Rue Haute in Brussels.
